My preparation for this school trip began the day I was invited by friends at school. Being a parent, daughter, sibling, employee, and a student I had to think the process through. As a parent I had to inform my children of the dates and location of my school trip to New Orleans. As a sibling I am one of eight children. We are a very close net family, and I have some who depends on me for guidance or support. I have an older mother that I call daily since we buried my father a couple of years ago. I had to give the dates to all my brothers, sisters, and my mother. I also had to submit a request of vacation time with my employer. I am a full-time employee with Unity Point Pekin Hospital as a Cardiac Monitor Tech. It was my manager who encourage me even more to go on the school trip. My manager is a graduate of Methodist College. She had always wanted to take one of the school trips but never took the opportunity due to family reasons.
I had to complete all my Christmas shopping, and place all the wrapped presents under my Christmas tree. I will be having Christmas with my children the weekend I return from New Orleans. I did pick up a couple new pieces of clothing that I needed and splurged on my first pair of Mary Jane t-strap Doc Martens black leather shoes. I am very healthy and like to stay active and working out. I am not on any special diets, but I will have plenty of healthy snacks and water for my train ride.
I am bringing a large suitcase, a medium suitcase as my carry on, and a duffel bag for my bathroom products. I am very organized but yet love fashion.
I have done some research of New Orleans on my own. Peyton and I are trying to decide of what we want to do on our free day! I have entered our itinerary on my calendar in my cell phone. I also have been tracking the temperature of New Orleans. All our class has been placed in groups to research New Orleans. I am in a group with Peyton, Lauren, and Paul. We have been assigned to research the Minority Population of New Orleans. My part of the research is the history of the women of New Orleans. I am looking forward of presenting my research of the women who made history in New Orleans to my classmates. I am looking forward to hearing the other class presentations regarding New Orleans. I'm eager to learn everything about this journey to New Orleans.

Such a great way to document this journey! Thanks for sharing it with all of us!
