Anytime Music: Experiences

As myself being new to New Orleans, I felt a feeling of comfort by hearing music rather it was slow or fast. There were a variety of instruments being played, like the piano, trumpet, drums, saxophone, and clarinet. Every day as I made my way through the historical landmark of New Orleans there was a genre of music being played. The music consisted of Ragtime, Dixieland, Brass Band, and Cajun music. One afternoon I came upon a small African American boy sitting on a white five-gallon bucket that was turned upside down. As I grew closer to the small boy, I noticed his little white teeth and had a sweet smile. He was holding a pair of drumsticks while making eye contact with me. My heart is full of love and acceptance when it comes to children.

This young boy stood out due to him wearing a bright red jogging outfit. He is very inventive by producing a sound on a five-gallon bucket which resembled a drum. He demonstrated his skills by using real drumsticks through movement of his fingers, wrists, arms, and shoulders. His movement to the sound of beats had ranged from slow to fast movements.
As he was playing the bucket, he had the capability of changing the range of the sound by lifting the bucket off the ground with his foot at the same time while playing. He had elevated his self-up over his bucket by sitting on an empty black plastic crate. He displayed raw talent and has set the beginning of a music career for himself.

Here is an image of our drummer boy showing off his skill sets!

And here he is playing his drums!
