So Farewell New Orleans!!!
It's time to reflect upon the history of New Orleans. This was my first time visiting New Orleans and I know for sure that I will be going back someday. My favorite part of the trip would be the tours. I like tours because that is where history is being obtained. I love to tour the unknown while being informed the history of that tour. Many of the tour guides that assigned to our class our folks that were born and raised in New Orleans. The culture of New Orleans is unique, yet mysterious. My favorite part of the class was walking with classmates to our assigned destinations. I walked everywhere every day. It was an opportunity to hear other classmates talk about their experiences of this New Orleans trip. It was an opportunity to learn about the classmates who are sharing a room with you. It was also an opportunity to meet new classmates for the very first time.
Many of the people that I had spoken to were born and raised in New Orleans. For example, my roommates and I relied on an Uber to transport us between the train station and the motel. One question that we always asked our driver was "do you live here in New Orleans"? Both of our Uber drivers were born and raised in New Orleans. The people who live in New Orleans are people like you and me. While I was on my school trip we walked to every assigned destination for class. As my roommates headed out of our motel each morning, life around me was real. The people of New Orleans have their lives of surviving. Each day I would see people working outside and inside of businesses. Many of the folks of New Orleans would not have it any other way but live where History has been made in the past, present, and future. This trip made me as a person to take charge of my own responsibilities. I was given an itinerary for every day being spent in New Orleans. It was my responsibility to know what time and where to meet for our scheduled class tours. It was my responsibility to watch the weather report so that I could be prepared every time I walked outside. It was my responsibility to budget my allowances for eating and shopping. It was my responsibility to navigate with various maps to find my destinations. One morning our class was going to use the street cars for transportation, and that morning they had changed the schedule of routes. This change in schedule had placed us walking to our assigned destination. So, on our free day, my classmate Peyton and I had tracked the schedule for the street cars and took one back towards our motel.
