January 3rd, Experiences

My journey began this evening January 3rd of 2020, walking my way through New Orleans. I felt comfort but also anxiety. Comfort steamed from being around people I can relate too but anxiety set in when being exposed to the unfamiliar faces of New Orleans. As I was taking in the sight of the city, I was struggling with the rain that came pouring onto my shivering skin. The air smelt earthy and dewy.
Looking ahead of me, I saw the most beautiful statue of Andrew Jackson riding a bronze., shining horse. The horse appeared strong, bold, powerful, and loyal to the rider. The appearance of this statue resembled the strength and passion of the history of Andrew Jackson's past.

Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States who won the battle of New Orleans and the War of 1812. The inner feeling of being one to witness this honor was fulfilling and memorable. The statue is overlooked by the St. Louis Cathedral church. The church was breathtaking to say the least. The feeling of bless came upon me, relating to my faith and religion. The St. Louis Cathedral being in my forefront, allowed my body to calm and my heart to beat slower because I was standing on a solid foundation due to my faith looking upon me.

While experiencing this unforgettable sight, we began to hear a clash of musical instruments march through the streets of New Orleans. The banging of drums, voices echoing through the streets, loud sirens of police cars filled my view.
