Art is a major component that makes up New Orleans. Art can be found in large variety of ways, like painting, architecture, ceramics, photography, dance, and music. Art was surrounding me the first evening in Jackson Square. As I approached the heart of New Orleans there was bronze statue of Andrew Jackson on his horse. This area was enclosed by a beautiful black iron fence. On the outer perimeter I had the opportunity to view artwork that was placed on display by the local artists in the area. I had an opportunity to join in for a three-hour cuisine tour. Food is also a form of art just by the presentation of the food being delivered. The food represents color, texture, shape and the dish the food is setting on resembles art.
One afternoon I was given the option to explore the art galleries on Royal Street. My favorite gallery was Sutton Galleries located at 519 Rue Royal, New Orleans, LA. 70130. This is their 4th generation, and their gallery is in the heart of the world-renowned French Quarter.
The gentle man that approached me gave me his business card. His name is Max Kidder and his title is Fine Art Dealer. I found a large gorgeous gold and black framed painted picture of a ballerina on point.
The asking price of the painting is $13,500, and the artist is Antonio Torres. I have done a little research on this gifted artist. Antonio Torres is a Spanish painter who was born in 1851. Since 2011 the record price for the Artist at auction is $22,500 which was a painting done by Antonio Torres. This is a photo of Antonio Torres painting that was posted on his facebook page.
